Join a community movement to end homelessness in Victoria

CHP is proud to announce #EveryHomeIsAFuture, a major new initiative rallying a community movement throughout Victoria, calling on all political parties to commit to real action to end homelessness.

At the centre of the campaign is our touring exhibition “Walk In Her Shoes”, which will introduce communities to the hidden face of homelessness by telling the story of three women who experienced homelessness at different stages of life: as a young person, as a middle-aged mother, and as an older Victorian.

Coinciding with the exhibition at each stop in the tour will be a local forum bringing together community leaders with homelessness practitioners, lived experience experts, local council representatives and state MPs to discuss the actions needed to end homelessness in their community.

Improving support for people experiencing family violence and homelessness

Bridging the Gap, a major new research report from CHP and Safe + Equal, has found one in five victim survivors who present to the SHS or SFVS are bounced back and forth between sectors without receiving the crisis accommodation they seek.

The report offers ten recommendations for change to enable improved outcomes for clients experiencing homelessness and family violence.

Victoria is at a crossroads. With homelessness on the rise and thousands waiting for a safe place to call home, the Council to Homeless Persons’ 2025–26 Victorian Budget Submission lays out a clear, achievable roadmap to end homelessness. We’re calling for strategic investments in social housing, targeted support for young people, women, Aboriginal communities, and LGBTIQ+ Victorians, and funding for proven programs that keep people housed. This isn’t just about housing—it’s about dignity, safety, and building a fairer Victoria where no one is left behind. Read the full submission and see how we can make ending homelessness a reality.
